Hirado Shonzui [Octagonal Multi-purpose Plate]

The ``Shouzui pattern,'' which is widely known as a pattern for pottery, is an auspicious pattern in which figures are arranged geometrically on background patterns such as tortoiseshell and Qinghai waves. Hirado Shozui, hand-painted in deep indigo and produced in the Mikawachi district of Nagasaki Prefecture, near Arita Town, exudes both precision and generosity, and conveys the warmth of handiwork. It is said that Marquis Matsuura, the lord of the Hirado domain, which prospered as Nagasaki's first Western trading port, loved it dearly. It is a formal vessel that is loved by people of all ages and genders for its calm texture and is suitable for everyday life. For large orders for gifts or campaigns, please contact BloomSource.
